Composer's Notes

To be sung for the congregation. In our zeal to emphasis the greatness of God and the brokenness of people we revel in our inadequacy, calling upon God to intercede for us at every turn. This song challenges the notion that once we have appealed to God to solve the problems that beset us,  our work is done.   On this earth it is our job to intercede for God, who daily gives us the power to do so. Some things are just not part of God’s job description. You can send God your prayers with great fervor and resolve, but in the end it is you who will have to bend down to tie your shoes. We are God’s face to the world.  The lead sheet can be played with the accompaniment track in the key of D without a capo.
